The Physics, Astronomy, and Materials Science Department is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service in each of our disciplines, which allows us to provide the best possible learning environment for our undergraduate and graduate students. We offer a wide range of courses, from introductory level to advanced. Our faculty are deeply involved in research activities that include neural networks, the scholarship of teaching, the astrophysics of pulsating stars, and the fabrication and development of nanotechnology devices. Department members provide community service at the local, regional, and national levels.

TRANSIT OF VENUS, Tuesday, June 5, 2012  4:00 P.M. until sunset

Telescopes will be set up (unless it is raining!) on the West side of the top level of Bear Park South
(corner of Grand St. and Holland Ave. on campus).  Free parking available in the lower levels of the parking garage.

Transits of Venus are quite rare; the next one will not occur until December 11, 2117!
