Advisement

The physics, astronomy, and materials science department is committed to seeing you succeed in your academic career. To ensure ample opportunity for us to guide your progress, plan a meeting with your advisor at least once a semester.

Undergraduate advising

To be assigned an advisor, contact the department of physics, astronomy, and materials science located in Kemper Hall 101. If you have forgotten who is assigned as your advisor, log in to My Missouri State and select the Student tab, then Student Profile link.

Once you have been assigned an advisor within the physics, astronomy, and materials science department, you can contact your advisor directly to schedule appointments for advising. If you have completed fewer than 60 hours, you are required to speak with and receive your advisor’s release to register for classes.

Graduate advising

You must receive advisor release prior to registering for each semester of graduate study. Graduate students are also required to submit an advisor-approved program of study to the Graduate College before 14 hours have been completed.
